Having spent almost ten years rejuvenating the City Centre, The City of Wodonga felt that one of the main exits into the city from the Hume Freeway was unappealing and a poor reflection of the CBD upgrades.
Working within VICRoads covenants for roadside works outside of peak times and with traffic control measures in place of the busy exit ramp, ECS carried out the upgrades to one side at a time, ensuring vehicles were able to leave the freeway and use the exit ramp to enter the main street at all times.
ECS removed the existing shrubby vegetation, reshaped the corner area and manipulated large rocks into place to form a retaining wall to define and hold levels. New advanced trees and sections of compacted decomposed granite within steel edging were installed for low-maintenance surface treatment.
The north side had mass plantings of strappy grasses, pruned, weeded, and freshly mulched to make it tidy.
The extensive resource of staff and equipment allowed ECS to complete these works very quickly and with minimal disruption.
